2017 Acura RDX Technology vs Advance Package

Typically when you purchase a new car, you have a good idea of what you’re getting yourself into. You pick a model and then select from a variety of trims, right? Acura does things just a little bit differently. Instead of making you guess what a higher trim level includes, you’ll find packages that add on to the premium features that are already available on the standard model. For the 2017 Acura RDX, you might be confused about the differences between the Technology and Advance Package, and we here at Karen Radley Acura are here to help savvy Washington D.C. and NoVA shoppers navigate the research process.

Since these are labeled as packages, it’s clear that both the Advance and Technology are additions added to the Acura RDX standard model. This means you will drive off in a luxury compact SUV with front- or all-wheel drive, a 279-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission with SportShift paddle shifters. So what do the available packages add?

2017 Acura RDX Advance Package offers top features

In some models, it might be expected that the Technology and Advance Package are entirely different, but this isn’t the case in the 2017 Acura RDX. Instead, the Advance Package takes all the features you find in the Technology Package and then adds more features, particularly ones that focus on convenience, like remote engine start, or driver assistance, like adaptive cruise control.

The Technology Package is added to the core, Standard, Acura RDX for a premium of $3,700 and includes features that primarily focus on, you guessed it, technology. In this case, we see things like navigation, voice recognition and premium audio.

The Advance Package is a high-level set of features that is added on to the Technology Package.. In order to add it to your model, you have to first add both the Technology and AcuraWatch Plus Packages, the latter of which is responsible for a variety of driver assistance features, such as Collisions Mitigation Braking System.
