Warning Signs
The first step in the process is to recognize when your Acura ADX, MDX, or Integra’s brakes are in need of repair. You may notice that it takes the car longer to come to a complete stop than previously, which can clearly show that they’re not as effective. When you drive down I-95, you may notice unusual vibrations as you try to slow the vehicle down. Additionally, you may even hear a screeching sound when the brakes are engaged. Either of these can indicate damage. Once you’ve parked your car, you can visually assess the brakes as well. By looking through the spokes of the wheel, you can see if the pads have been worn down. If there’s a pooling of yellow, blue, green, or red liquid beneath your car, then that can mean a leak has caused the brake fluid to run.
Brake Test
Once you notice any of these issues, you can come into our Service Department where our team of Acura technicians can diagnose the issue. They’ll start off with a quick test drive to get a feel for how the vehicle decelerates. From here, they can more accurately pinpoint where the problem lies. If it’s with the brake pads, they’ll remove the wheels to get a better look at them. They will also check the surrounding area like the axle and calipers as well. They can also search for the source of a brake fluid leak, especially when they pop open the hood and look at the brake lines.
Replacement Process
As soon as the issue has been found, our team will work to remedy the problem by replacing whatever part has been broken or worn down. Most commonly it will be the brake pads, which are pushed into the wheel’s rotors to slow the vehicle down. From constant use, these will degrade and will need to be replaced. On the other hand, other components in this process like the calipers and rotors can also crack or break. They’ll also replace any brake lines that have sprung a leak as well. You can be certain the replacements will fit snuggly into place since our Parts Department used genuine OEM parts that are designed specifically for your model.
