2019 Acura ILX refresh and updates

For generations, a performance-minded, luxury vehicle has been a part of the American dream. It’s a point of pride to own a head-turning vehicle and it’s easy to flaunt as you go about your daily life. Unfortunately, it has often felt like these fantastic vehicles aren’t within the budget for many. The Acura ILX is a different story, as the compact vehicle provides an affordable entry to the luxury brand’s lineup. First released for the 2013 model year, the ILX was refreshed in 2016 and now has earned another facelift for the 2019 model year. The updates are important ones as the 2019 ILX now falls in line with the design DNA present for all Acura models.

What’s new for the 2019 Acura ILX?

As with any facelift, the first thing you’ll notice about the 2019 Acura ILX is that it underwent some style enhancements to give it a sportier exterior. This is most noticeable in the front end, where the model now has the signature Diamond Pentagon Grille.

It’s not all looks and no fresh tech for the ILX, though. The model now has standard AcuraWatch safety features that include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Road Departure Mitigation. This means that every Acura model in the lineup now has these standard features because safety is just as important to the automaker as performance is. Distracted driving has easily become the most dangerous issue for today’s motorists, and these systems combine to alert drivers and correct driving errors to help prevent collisions.

Another key highlight is the dual-screen On Demand Multi-Use Display, which is an estimated 30 percent faster to use and has a seven-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also both standard.

The new model year will arrive to dealerships in October. What do you think of the 2019 Acura ILX? Share your thoughts with a comment here at the Karen Radley Acura Blog.
