2018 Labor Day Weekend Activities Washington D.C.

The time of year when we start seeing holiday decorations come out just a little too early is almost upon us. Before we start to feel anxious about the various plans ahead, we still have a bit of summer left to celebrate. Rather than cut it short, here are some 2018 Labor Day weekend activities you can do in the Washington D.C. and northern Virginia area to catch those last rays.

Things to do outdoors

Over the fall and winter months, you’ll find plenty of reasons to stay indoors, so the best way to spend Labor Day is often to find things to do outside. Here are some of our top picks.

National Symphony Orchestra Labor Day ConcertCartoon red fist holding wrench with blue background

This is likely the most popular thing to do in Washington D.C., but no list is complete without it. This year the concert will take place on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. This is a free event and it should be noted that no alcohol is permitted.

Visit a Farmer’s Market

Though there are some area farmer’s markets that are open all year, many will be ending soon. We recommend the Eastern Market for those in D.C., but there are plenty of great options in the area.

Maryland Renaissance Festival

Does today’s modern world have you done? Well, you can transport yourself back in time for the weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Take a bite of a turkey leg while you enjoy a variety of fables, learn about old time rituals and maybe catch a bit of jousting. The atmosphere alone is worth a trip.
